The Laws of the Game of Table Silence

Standard

1) Who may Play:
a)Any member of the Household,
b)Any willing Dinner Guest.
1)All Players must have a seat at the dinner table.

2) Point of the Game:
a)To remain utterly quiet.
b)To humiliate other Players by one’s own silence.

3) Beginning the Game:
a)The Marsahll of the Game or the Vice-Marshall of the Game may at will announce a game.

4) The Things Forbidden, which if committed result in disqualification:
a)Touching another Player.
b)Offering defiance to the Marshall of the Game.
c)Moving in such a way that either Cheek of the Bum shall no longer touch the Seat of the Chair.
d)Using any thing to make a noise as a substitute for vocalisims.
e)Making any Vocal Noise.

5) Interpretation:
a)All Matters of Dispute regarding any of the Things Forbidden are left to the judgement of the Marshall of the Game.
b)Excepting a vigorous Protest by the Vice-Marshall for a review of a Judgement, IT SHALL STAND.
c)In case of bitter disputation between the Marshall and Vice-Marshall of the Game, all matters may or may not be resolved by an appeal to these Laws of the Game.

6) Officials:
a)The Marshall of the Game is most commonly the Father or Man of the House, but need not be.
b)The Vice-Marshall of the Game is most commonly the Mother or Lady of the House, but need not be.
c)In case of the disqualification of the Marshall, the office thereof resolves automatically onto the Vice-Marshall. If both are disqualified, then the office resolves onto the next oldest Player, and so forth.

7) Assessment of Fouls:
a)The Marshall of the Game may assess a disqualifying foul by a vigorous pointing of both hands at the offending Player. One hand shall not suffice, both are required.

8) Winning the Game of Silence:
a)The last remaining silent and un-Disqualified Player shall be the Winner of the Game.
